Shuang-long Adult Daycare Center is the highest daycare center in Taiwan.

As a new member in Central Taiwan’s Network of Compassion, Shuang-long Adult Daycare Center in Xinyi, Nantou, is currently the highest daycare center in Taiwan. Minister of Health and Welfare, Chen Shih-chung, chairperson of TSMC Charity Foundation, Sophie Chang, along with representatives of China Medical University Hospital, Lin Tseng Lien Welfare and Charity Foundation, and Old Five Old Foundation were present at the plaque unveiling ceremony. With this daycare center, families with senior members may work without needing to worry about them being left alone during daytime.

Minister of Health and Welfare, Chen Shih-chung, said that it took him two hours to get to Shuang-long Village, where he considered the rural village “beautiful, serene, remote, yet lacking.” Thanks to people’s efforts and support, Shuang-long Adult Daycare Center is now connected and integrated into Network of Compassion. Nantou county magistrate, Chen Cheng-sheng, pointed out that Xinyi township is one of the most disadvantaged and wanting area. It not only has one of the highest rate of rural flight, it’s elderly population is on the rise, and locals have a higher rate of getting chronic diseases than non-locals due to life style and eating habits.

Superintendent of China Medical University Hospital, Cho Der-Yang, stated that CMUH has been offering integrated healthcare support and taking care of the residents in rural Xinyi township for the past 21 years. It has worked with community medical groups, government agencies, and public interest groups to provide a variety of medical services. By focusing on healthcare services catering to elderlies, such as 24/7 medical services, house calls, physical therapy house calls, CMUH has been a trustworthy facility for locals and received a high patient satisfaction rate of 94%.

To bring together support from across the society, TSMC Charity Foundation established the platform, Network of Compassion, in 2014. With China Medical University Hospital and Old Five Old Foundation as partners, Network of Compassion in Central Taiwan was formed, and it has been offering support and care to elderlies living alone or in disadvantaged situations. From now on, working family members may drop physically or mentally disabled seniors at the daycare center, where the elderlies will be able to participate in therapy sessions, leisure group activities, and interact with others to slow down degeneration.
