TSMC Charity Foundation has teamed up with social enterprises Yulon Group (including Luxgen Motor Co., Carplus Auto Leasing, Yulon Group Headquarter), CPC Corporation, Hantek Technology Co., to do charity work by promoting Driving Happiness to You, a car service for taking elderlies living in rural areas in Taitung to hospitals.
By making use of charity experience for nearly a decade, TSMC charity foundation has called on other enterprises to join in the action. Yulon Group donated five compact MPVs, Luxgen V7, for delivering barrier-free transportation, along with the barrier-free carrier service technology invented by Yulon Group, and the smart vehicle management system by Carplus Auto Leasing, the enterprises built up a car sharing service platform for transporting elderlies living in five rural villages in Taitung. By coming up with an innovative solution for solving inconvenience of getting medical aid, TSMC and its partner enterprises aims to “pay happiness forward” in the Taiwanese society.
Chairperson of TSMC charity foundation Sophie Chang stated that the objective of the foundation was to build long-term supportive partnership with its beneficiaries. TSMC not only aims to provide, but to maintain the support into becoming a sustainable service. Three out of the four major initiatives—“caring for the disadvantaged,” “caring for the elderly,” “promoting filial piety” (except “protecting the environment”) –all revolve around Taiwan’s aging society. Chang aspires to send love and happiness to the furthest corners in Taiwan.
Driving Happiness to You program provide car service to eleven villages in Taitung, which include Tuban village, Taiban village, Xinhua village, Senyong village, Anshuo village, Nantian village of Daren Township, and Nanxing village, Shangwu village, Dawu village, Daniao village, Dazhu village of Dawu Township. The volunteer drivers are made up of village chiefs, village clerks, church staff, clan representatives, and indigenous people. The five Luxgen V7 were delivered to the rural villages in Taitung on April, 1, 2019, kick starting the volunteer driver training course for two days and a half.
The course covered a wide range of relevant topics, such as vehicle management and status report, vehicle operation and security regulations, vehicle booking and dispatching system, driver app, registration and dispatching procedure, defensive driving training, and training for helping elderlies getting in and out of vehicles. With this service, TSMC hopes that the elderlies may be able to have a good day out and return to their homes safe and sound.

Villagers may use the app to submit transportation requests, so that the volunteer drivers may schedule and plan optimal car routes according to the villagers' needs.
The contract signing ceremony took place at the beach of Dawu Township. Different religious personnel were present to pray and give their blessings to the volunteer vehicles, including a Catholic priest, Shaman Qiu of the Paiwanese tribe, and Taoist priest Chen. All eleven villages in Daren and Dawu township are now blessed and TSMC hopes that the service will be able to “drive” more happiness forward in the near future.
