Promoting Filial Piety2020/10/18
Painting Smiles on Faces at Wego
Taipei Wego International High School has teamed up with TSMC charity foundation to hold a heartwarming and colorful parent-child workshop together.

Adolescents during puberty like to assert their independence, so how do parents bridge this gap besides being by their children's side?
TSMC invited Wego's secondary school students and their parents to participate in the filial piety workshop, giving parents who are usually busy with work and children with school a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with each other, and to see each other in a new light. The workshop allows the parents to rediscover their passions and the children to have a guess at their parents’ youthful dreams. With endearing interactions between parents and children, such as ruffling the hair and touching the cheeks of their children, or children teasing their parents of wrinkles and double-chins, parents and children put down their beloved ones on paper through colorful drawings, bringing back happy and heart-touching memories. We always say that “bonds” come before “warmth” and these heartening moments are the best elements of creating filial piety between parents and children.

During the workshop, we saw parents and children look at each other and smiling spontaneously. When parents started to talk about their parents, the words were filled with so much love and gratitude that tears were shed and voices cracked, showcasing the unique love and understanding between parents and children. Only with filial piety as the core value can children develop good character and turn this virtue into action, realizing the further teachings of education. This happens to coincide with Wego's founding goal: to foster Wego all-around talents.
By interacting through drawing, we are letting empathy fill the hearts. Love brings forth filial piety and light up the souls.

Just as the chairperson of TSMC charity foundation, Sophie Chang, has said “Filial piety isn't just a virtue that we read in books, but a course of action. By putting filial piety in action, we would be able to create sincere interaction and build a beautiful society.” She wishes to see others jumping on the filial piety bandwagon with TSMC and Wego as the first example.
