TSMC Volunteer Guides Push for Cradle of Semiconductor Learning

Unveiling the “World of Semiconductors” pavilion

TSMC has donated a newly designed pavilion to the Taichung's National Museum of Natural Sciences (NMNS) called “World of Semiconductors”, which aims to inspire the next generation of semiconductor experts by promoting popular science learning of integrated circuits.

On August 18, the pavilion was ready to share everything amazing about the field of semiconductors as its doors were opened together with TSMC Chairman Mark Liu (center), NMNS Director Wei-Hsin Sun (second from left), TSMC Education and Culture Foundation Chairman F.C. Tseng (first from left), TSMC Charity Foundation Chairperson Sophie Chang (second from right), and Taiwan Daifuku Company Chairman Junkei Ito (first from right).

Entities collaborate in promoting popular science education

Different players in the semiconductor industry invested  their own expertise and resources: TSMC Education and Culture Foundation designed and built the pavilion, NMNS operates and maintains it, and the TSMC Charity Foundation trained and provided volunteer guides. All sides have joined hands to provide visitors with a comprehensively equipped space to experience the joy and satisfaction of learning about this industry.

Promoting semiconductor science: volunteer guides report for duty!

An indispensable part of the pavilion's operation are TSMC Charity Foundation's volunteer guides, as Sophie Chang stated, “We appreciate that the volunteers from our foundation and NMNS are able to learn, and then share this knowledge with visitors both young and old alike.” Two months before the opening ceremony, the foundation's executive director, Dr. Tsai Neng-Shian, invited TSMC retirees and senior volunteer guides to lead 500 volunteer workers in learning new real-world interactive experiences, and prepare them to teach the public and students about a lifetime of semiconductor know-how.
