Pandemic Response: TSMC's Three Charitable Initiatives Extend a Caring Hand-Part2
Initiative #2: Providing laptops and Wi-Fi routers to keep classes going in the countryside
As the pandemic rages on, Chairperson Sophie reminded fellow colleagues to support rural students in their quest for learning, despite their lack of resources. While computer related equipment continues to suffer supply shortages, the foundation has provided 1,000 laptops and, with the support of Alpha Networks Inc. (明泰科技), 1,000 Wi-Fi routers and web resources were also donated. At the same time, the TSMC Charity Foundation has teamed up with A & B International Co. Ltd. (愛琲公司) to design supply packs to assist in the long-distance teaching of science courses for students and faculty among eight Taiwanese schools supported by TSMC. In the future, more will be provided to other communities in need.

Initiative #3: Donating food packages to the disadvantaged as people remain under lockdown
Food access for rural children and the elderly has long remained a concern for the TSMC Charity Foundation. As the COVID-19 outbreak continues, Chaiperson Sophie has called for help from allies in the food industry, working with Chimei Frozen Food Co. (奇美食品), Laurel Corp. (桂冠食品), Lian Hwa Foods (聯華), Hunya Foods Co. (宏亞食品), and the food service company Hsin Tung Yang (新東陽), to provide twelve welfare organizations for the elderly with nearly 2,000 care packages. The foundation is also working with 1919 Food Bank to not only support food transport costs for its 160 centers, but has also delivered 1,500 food boxes to childcare centers which have shared a long relationship with TSMC, thereby assuring that everyone can face this pandemic without any fear of going hungry.
