Sophie Chang “Paying Love Forward" at Chiayi

Chairperson of TSMC Charity Foundation and wife of TSMC's chairman, Sophie Chang, gave the speech “Paying Love Forward” in the auditorium at the ninth floor of Chiayi city hall on June 20th. The speech attracted nearly 500 attendees, including Mayor Huang Min-hui and her team, along with volunteers and friends of different businesses and associations. Mayor Huang presented a Cochin ware symbolizing auspiciousness to Chang, expressing her deepest gratitude of Chang’s effort in philanthropy.

Mayor Huang stated that Chiayi people are known for being loyal, friendly and dedicated. Chiayi people have demonstrated that beauty comes from being selfless and having love in one's heart. Only with positivity and kindness can we make our society a better place. Sophie Chang has been dedicated to social charity work with the same attitude. With a loving heart, she has lead the volunteers at TSMC Charity Foundation to the four corners of Taiwan and even beyond borders, bringing hope to the disadvantaged and the elderlies. By participating in filial piety promotion and anti-drug campaign, she hopes to light up people’s lives with passion and wisdom.

Mayor Huang stated that she has brought her team, friends and volunteers of different businesses and associations to attend Chang's speech, so that people may get to know the beauty, culture, and energy of Chiayi city and pay the passion, kindness and heritage of Chiayi city forward. Huang is keen to explore further opportunities of working with TSMC Charity Foundation and bringing positivity to the society in the near future.

With concrete and easy-to-follow initiatives, Sophie Chang elaborated her thoughts and ideas on her philanthropic work. She invites the public to join in the campaign of caring for the disadvantaged, caring for the elderly, promoting filial piety, and protecting the environment. When an earthquake struck Hualien in 2018, TSMC Charity Foundation provided disaster relief by helping those disadvantaged families rebuild their homes destroyed in the catastrophe, providing them with strong, simple and long-standing homes. The Ten Thousand for a Household program became the biggest support for those families in dire need of emergency aid.

“Let's pay love forward to help those in need,” said Sophie Chang. When more and more people join in the action, a simple act of kindness can grow into something big, demonstrating the infinite power of benevolence and wisdom. Sophie Chang invites Chiayi people to pay love forward and make Taiwan a better place.
